Missed States Tour
August 9-18, 2021
Day 1 North Dakota Here We Come!
This tour will offer a little bit of everything! But the main offerings
will be Nebraska, North Dakota, two states that many have missed!
Tonight’s reservations are in Hannibal, MO. This afternoon we have
time to see the sights of the town Mark Twain loved so well. Tonight
we have a dinner and a boat ride on the Mighty Mississippi.
Day 2 St. Joseph
We depart Hannibal this morning and travel to St. Joseph where we
visit the Pony Express Museum and the Jesse James home/museum. After our visit we are on the Lincoln where we have reservations for the night.
Day 3 Kearney, NB
This morning we travel to the Harold Warp’s Pioneer Village, the largest collection of
Americana anywhere. The village complex comprises 28 buildings on 20 acres. There are over
50,000 irreplaceable items of historical value. The museum has over 350 antique automobiles.
Later this afternoon we arrive at the Great Platte River Road Archway Monument. The
pioneers’ westward journey along the Great Platte River Road is recreated with a variety of
interactive and audiovisual exhibits. Other depictions include the Mormon trail, the Pony
Express, and the transcontinental railroad. Tonight we have reservations in Kearney.
Day 4 Pierre, SD
It is a short drive to the Buffalo Bill Ranch State
Historical Park, known as Scout’s Ranch, is a
living history state park. We have reservations
in Pierre, the Capitol of South Dakato.
Day 5 Bismarck
Today we continue on across South Dakota
from the south to the north as we travel into
North Dakota. We travel north of Bismarck
for our visit to the Lewis and Clark Interpretive
Center. We will step back in time at the
reconstructed Fort Mandan, a fully furnished,
full-size replica of the fort in which the Lewis
and Clark Expedition overwintered in
1804-1805. You will be able to check this
Missed State from your list of states. We will
visit the State Capitol, a 19 story building
called the “skyscraper of the prairie”; its Roughrider Gallery has portraits of famous
North Dakotans. Tonight we have reservations in Bismarck.
Day 6 Mall of America
Today we travel to Minneapolis, and the largest mall in the United States and the Mall of
America. Our motel for the night will be across the street from the mall so you can shop at you
leisure. Of course there will a lot of dinner options at the mall!
Day 7 Wisconsin Dells
We travel south today to the Dells area of Wisconsin, where we have reservations for the next
two nights. This afternoon we have a boat ride on the Upper Dells, where we see Cold Water
Canyon, Witches Gulch, Stand Rock and more. Tonight, we have dinner at the Paul Bunyan’s.
Day 8 Wisconsin Dells
This morning we travel to see a local cheese maker! Of course you can buy some cheese. After
our visit there we travel to the famous House on the Rock. You are in for a special treat, with
plenty of time to enjoy this most unique house. The house is one we will long remember, atop
its chimney like rock 450 feet in the air. Our ticket will include all of the exhibits. This
afternoon we return to the Dells for our last night in Wisconsin.
Day 9 Chicago
Our last night for our Missed States tour is in Chicago. We have reservations two blocks from
the famous Magnificent Mile, the bustling area of upscale shops. You have free time and we
also have reservations to a boat tour on the Chicago River and into the locks and out on Lake
